Duttons for Buttons boasts a stunning Tudor building in the heart of beautiful, historical York. Full of character and charm, the workroom is above the shop, under the eaves. This crafty, historical space offers a special charm that is both inspiring and totally unique. Having the shop below is very handy for those crafting purchases to support bear making and other projects. And, don’t forget that you get 10% off having just attended a Duttons workshop.
Day 1 will be about cutting out your mohair and stitching the body parts together using mostly back stitch, and some whip stitch, to secure tricky bits. We’ll begin inserting cotter pin joints then stutffing and then sticthing the arms and legs closed using ladder stitch.
Day 2 will be about stuffing and moulding the head. Inserting eyes, attching ears and embroidering the snout. We’ll then be able to attach the cotter pin joints and assemble our bear or bunny.
All the materials you need will be provided, in your bespoke kit. Before going home each day you can treat yourself to a walk around York. You can bring your own lunch or try one of the numerous restaurants right on the doorstep. There are several Park & Ride options surrounding the city. York is also well connected to further afield with oodles of train and bus networks. Duttons for Buttons is about 10 mins walk from York train station.
