Clover Copse Bears

A copse is a thicket of bushes or very small cluster of trees. Clover is a small green ground covering plant that typically has 3 leaves. However if you should find a four-leafed clover it symbolises good luck. Jacqueline likes to think of her Clover Copse Bears as lucky little bruines.

As a child, my siblings and I would have great fun looking for four-leafed clover whilst walking the dogs and going on expeditions during the summer holidays in our wellington boots. Incidentally, some types of clover have beautiful pink flowers. For a few weeks each year clover covered fields and copses erupt into a sea of bright fuchsia. The perfect backdrop for glamorous, charismatic Clover Copse Bears to have a ball.

Tilly

Tilly

Clover Copse Bears are small bruins. Much smaller than Bramble Wood or Foxglove bears. But don’t be deceived; they are packed with character and attitude. With glass beads in their tummies they have substance and weigh more than thought on first appearance. They range in size from 11cm to 17 cm when standing.

Tilly was the first bear deigned by Jacqueline for the Clover Copse collection. Jacqueline wanted to create a bear pattern that would challenge an existing beginner bear maker. Giving an opportunity to acquire more advanced skills and techniques. Making a smaller bear already achieves some of these goals. There is also more intricate detail in all body parts. And, lastly depending on the mohair you choose your bear making skills can be advanced further.

Toby

Toby is the second bear in the Clover Copse Collection. His snout is more pointed than Tilly and his arms and body are more elongated giving him a more elegant and older looking disposition. Both Tilly and Toby are made using sparse, directional mohair. Your stitches need to be small and extremely accurate when using sparse mohair. Consequently Toby is not a bear for the beginner bear makers. If you are a beginner maker, Jacqueline advises trying a Milo or Nico bear first, followed by Roxy from the Bramble Wood Bear collection.
