Bears &

Bramble Wood Bears

England has oodles of foraging opportunities in the hedgerows and along the seashore. Edible delights that are free for those who know where they are and what to do with them., crab apples, wild herbs, cockles, and brambles. Here’s a little history surrounding the Bramble Wood Bears …

I remember my Aunt cooking stinging nettles in a soup after I had been stung. That’ll teach them she said! Tasted a little like spinach. Brambles are a berry. The berry is so dark that it almost looks black when ripe and ready to eat. Brambles are actually Blackberries found in the hedgerows along many English public footpaths. Brambles make fantastic jam. My brother makes great liqueurs with brambles using gin, vodka and brandy. A wood is an area of land, smaller than a forest yet larger than a copse, covered with growing trees. A wood is the perfect place for bears, that are not too large to hide and play.

Introducing the Bramble Wood Bears – Felix

Felix

All Bramble Wood Bears have Felix in their heritage. Felix is the first bear designed specifically for Jacqueline’s Bears. Like his namesake Felix, this bear is the perfect gentleman. Friendly, affectionate, with sound morals and a great sense of humour.

Bramble Wood Bears are medium sized bruins. They range from 22cm to 26cm when standing. Being larger that Clover Copse Bears their tummies are filled with plastic pellets. This gives them substance without making them too heavy.

Milo & Nico

Milo and Nico were originally designed as a beginners bears for workshops. Milo was the first of Jacqueline’s Bears to his very own bear making kit, closely followed by Nico. These kits contains all the specialist materials, pattern and instructions for making your very own traditional, fully jointed, mohair teddy bear. The Nico bear making kit can be purchased through Jacqueline.

Roxy Bear

Roxy

Roxy is the 2nd bear I designed as a workshop kit. Like the original Bramble Wood bear Felix, Roxy stands at about 26cm and is about 17cm high when sitting. This does depend on how the seams are sewn. Roxy has a slightly longer snout than Milo and Nico, and has slightly longer limbs compared to his body. This gives Roxy are slightly more mature look than the beginner bears. Like all Bramble Wood Bears, Roxy enjoys a life a luxury and would really love a little silk waistcoat!

One of a Kind Bears – OOAK

Designing and making bears and their accessories is an ongoing process. There is never enough time because there is always time, for one more bear! As a result bears are constantly coming up for adoption. Like all the bears made for Jacqueline’s Bears the bears in the Bramble Wood Collection are all OOAK. One-Of-A-Kind. Consequently, making them totally unique.
